Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we get asked most. If yours is not here, call the office and we will answer it.
What do I need to bring to my first class?
A valid driver license or state ID, and your eCourse completion certificate if your course requires one. Wear the required riding gear listed on your course page: over-the-ankle boots, long trousers, a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, full-fingered gloves and eye protection. We provide the motorcycle and the helmet.
Do I need my own motorcycle?
No. Training motorcycles and helmets are provided for the Basic RiderCourse. Courses that require you to bring your own bike say so on the course page.
What happens if it rains?
Classes run in most weather, so dress for the forecast. If conditions become unsafe we will contact you to reschedule, and there is no fee for a weather move.
Can I cancel or change my class date?
Yes. You can move your own booking online using the order number in your confirmation email, up until the cutoff shown at checkout. Inside that window, call the office and we will sort it out with you. Cancellation and late-reschedule fees are set out in our enrollment policy.
How old do I have to be?
You must be at least the minimum age shown on the registration form and hold a valid state ID. Riders under 18 must have a parent or guardian attend to sign for them.
Do I get my motorcycle endorsement at the end?
Completing the Basic RiderCourse earns you a completion card that waives the riding skills test at the DMV. You still complete the endorsement at the DMV yourself. Bring your completion card with you.
What if I have never ridden before?
That is exactly who the Basic RiderCourse is for. It starts from the beginning, on a range, with MSF-certified coaches.
Still have a question?
Call or email the office and a person will answer. If you are already booked, you can also look up your registration to change your date.
